Não fosse eu uma apaixonada por ballet e pelo romantismo dos contos de fadas e não teria ido a correr - e em puro êxtase - ver o Quebra-Nozes e os Quatros Reinos, o novo filme da Disney.
Para quem não sabe, o Quebra-Nozes é um dos maiores clássicos de ballet de dois actos, composto por Tchaikovsky baseado na versão de Alexandre Dumas de um conto infantil de E.T.A. Hoffmann.
O filme prendeu-me de imediato pela cenografia que é impressionante e pelo facto de a Disney ter tentado permanecer fiel à componente mais sombria do conto original - o que para mim é algo fantástico já que eu adoro esse tipo de cenários passados na Inglaterra Vitoriana. E desenganem-se se acham que este é o Quebra-nozes da vossa infância porque vos garanto que se irão surpreender.

Were I not in love with ballet and the romanticism of fairy tales, I wouldn't have gone running - and in pure ecstasy - to see the Nutcracker and the Four Realms, the new Disney movie.
For those who may not know, the Nutcracker is one of the greatest ballet classics of two acts, composed by Tchaikovsky based on the Alexandre Dumas version of a children's tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann.
The film caught me right away by the stunning scenery and the fact that Disney has tried to stay true to the darkest part of the original tale - which to me is something fantastic since I love those backgrounds of a Victorian England. And think again if you think this is the Nutcracker of your childhood because I assure you that you will be surprised.
A história centra-se na personagem de Clara que recebe uma caixa com um presente inestimável mas cuja chave ela não possui.
Drosselmeyer, o seu padrinho e fabricante de relógios, dá-lhe então de presente algo que a leva até à chave e ao um mundo paralelo composto por quatro reinos: a Terra dos Flocos de Neve, a Terra das Flores, a Terra dos Doces e o sinistro quarto reino dominado pela tirana Mãe Ruiva e quem Clara terá de enfrentar para conseguir o que deseja.
O elenco é um de peso e conta com Morgan Freeman como Drosselmeyer, Keira Nightley como a Fada do Açúcar, Hellen Mirren como Mãe Ruiva e ainda com Misty Copeland, uma bailarina do American Ballet Theater, que torna o filme ainda mais mágico e perfeito com a sua atuação ao longo de algumas cenas de bailado clássico - e é absolutamente m-a-r-a-v-i-l-h-o-s-o e é tudo aquilo que eu esperava.
A banda sonora é também outro ponto que me deixou rendida já que usa de forma muito bem conseguida o clássico de Tchaikosvky "A Dança da Fada do Açúcar" ao longo de todo o filme.
Mas o que realmente surpreende é o desenlace da história que, repito, não tem nada a ver com a história que conhecemos do Natal da nossa infância.
Este é sem dúvida o filme para ver este Natal em família sobretudo para quem tem meninas apaixonadas por ballet. E deixo ainda a dica de que deverão ficar sentados à espera dos créditos finais porque vale mesmo muito a pena.

The story centers on the character of Clara who receives a box with an invaluable gift but whose key she doesn't have.
Drosselmeyer, his godfather and watchmaker, gives her something of a gift that leads her to the key and to a parallel world composed of four realms: the Land of Snowflakes, the Land of Flowers, the Land of Sweets and the sinister fourth realm dominated by the tyrant Mother Ginger and whom Clara will have to face in order to get what she wants.
The cast is a heavyweight one and features Morgan Freeman as Drosselmeyer, Keira Nightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Hellen Mirren as Mother Ginger and Misty Copeland, an American Ballet Theater dancer who makes the film even more magical and perfect with her acting over some classic ballet scenes - and it's absolutely w-o-n-d-e-r-f-u-l and all I had expected.
The soundtrack is also another point that left me enthralled since it uses in a very well achieved way the classic of Tchaikovsky "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" throughout the whole film.
But what really surprises is the outcome of the story that, I repeat, has nothing to do with the story we know of our childhood Christmas.
This is undoubtedly the movie to see this Christmas as a family especially for those who have girls in love with ballet. And I leave the tip that you should sit around waiting for the final credits because it's really worth it.
As fotos que vos deixo hoje não podiam espelhar melhor esta minha paixão pelo ballet que (para enorme felicidade da mãe) passou também para as minhas filhas.
Talvez por me verem a mim, a verdade é que a Cristina e a Sofia já há muito me pediam para começar as aulas de ballet e achei que estava na hora. A verdade é que elas parecem mesmo ter herdado a paixão da dança que me acompanha desde sempre e é incrível poder partilhar isto com elas.
E apesar de ainda não ter ido com elas ver o filme, sei que é algo que iremos fazer com toda a certeza porque sei que ambas vão adorá-lo tanto quanto eu - e eu não me vou importar mesmo nada de ver o filme em modo repeat.
O filme já está nos cinemas desde 31 de Outubro e digo-vos que, se amam ballet ou se adoram os contos românticos da Disney, então não podem perder este filme.

The photos I leave you today couldn't better reflect my passion for ballet, which (to their mother's great happiness) was also passed to my daughters.
Perhaps because they have seen me since ever, the truth is that Cristina and Sofia have long asked me to start ballet classes and I thought it was the time to do it. The truth is that they seem to have inherited the passion for dancing that has always been with me and it's amazing to be able to share this with them.
And although I haven't yet gone with them to watch the movie, I know it's something we're going to do for sure because I know they'll love it as much as I did - and I will not mind at all watching the movie in the repeat mode.
It has already premiered on October 31 and I tell you that if you love ballet or if you love the romantic tales of Disney, then you can not miss this movie.
